This year, Sages is again very active in organizing competitions and challenges in the field of IT, especially in the context of the application of artificial intelligence methods. We have become a partner of the Collabothon hackathon. During the event, we will organize our own challenge on natural language generation.

Collabothon is a three-day hackathon organized by the Lodz branch of Cormmerzbank, which this year lived to see its first Polish edition. It will take place from July 7-9, 2021. Participants of the event will be able to take part in one of four challenges prepared by partners and compete for prizes worth a total of €20,000.

As mentioned, we were pleased to organize our own challenge. In this particular challenge, the efforts of the team completing the task will focus on supporting people with disabilities, specifically, developing a method for automatically generating descriptions for such non-text elements in documents as tables and lists. The winners of this challenge will receive training entitled Foundations of Text Mining and Natural Language Processing. In addition, the hackathon will also include webinars on the following topics:

  • Azure Cognitive Services
  • Sentiment analysis
  • Goal-oriented chatbots using open-source stack

Participation in the event is completely free. Registration will last until July 2, 2021. It will be up to 3 days of intensive programming using widely available APIs, platforms and modern technologies. The event will bring together coders, entrepreneurs, FinTech people, ideation stars, UX superheroes and data fanatics. For more information, visit the Collabothon website.

At this point, it is worth mentioning that, in addition to participating in Collabothon, we are also organizing the fifth edition of the PolEval competition, the theme of which is natural language processing challenges. The challenges proposed this year are:

  • reconstructing punctuation in text derived from speech recognition methods,
  • automatic quality evaluation of machine translation,
  • improving the performance of OCR methods.

The benefit for participants in this competition is not only the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and objectively prove that the prepared solution is the best among those submitted, but also cash prizes.

You are cordially invited and encouraged to participate in both Collabothon and the PolEval competition.
